Adult Education & Community Learning

During term time, Emma teaches adult education and community outreach classes for the Mary Ward Centre. This includes:

  • Ballroom and Line Dancing at the Castlehaven Community Centre as part of their Age Activity programme for Over 60's. Members of these groups performed at #30FEST in 2016 and the Lord Mayor's Show in 2015. See them in a video about tackling loneliness in older age here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85ffF_pkx54
  • Freestyle Dance for adults at the Third Age Project, who perform at least once per year in community shows at the New Diorama Theatre in Regent's Place.
  • Chair based dance for sheltered housing projects.
  • Gentle dance for Age UK resource centres, including for people with dementia.
  • A range of other dance subjects for community centres such as the Abbey Community Centre in NW6 and the Camden Chinese Community Centre
Emma also teaches as part of the Mary Ward Centre's mainstream programme and is a tutor observer. She also taught (and observed) for the Bishopsgate Institute from 2005-2016. For more information about current classes see the Adult dance classes in London page or contact Emma directly to discuss setting up new classes.

Schools

Through Emma's Academy, we can offer a number of services to schools across London. We can organise tailor made classes and bring them direct to your school or organisation, taught by the Principal or one of our associated teachers. Some of the options we can offer are as follows:

  • Classes in Dance, Drama or Musical Theatre
  • All subjects can be tailored to fit in with their curriculum - i.e. a particular topic they are currently studying.
  • Dance and Musical Theatre classes can be geared towards an IDTA exam if desired.
  • Classes can be run termly / half termly / one off special sessions or as part of activities week.
  • All classes are organised in advanced with a termly progression plan showing how the participants will develop throughout the course.
Since 2006 we have delivered a wide range of workshops through the Sainsbury's Active Kids promotion. Schools can collect vouchers to trade in for sports equipment and experiences, and these can be used to book Academy teachers to deliver workshops in a variety of dance subjects.

Regular classes can be funded by pupil subscriptions or out of school budgets. Contact us for more information.

Corporate Events

We deliver classes on site in the workplace as part of leisure and wellness programmes or for ice breaker / activity  / team building events.

Previous clients include Carphone Warehouse, Sainsbury's and GlaxoSmithKline.
