   Home      About Emma
Emma Weir started her teaching career at the Albany Dance Academy, a not for profit club in Aldershot, Hampshire, where she taught part time whilst training for her IDTA qualifications. In 2005 Emma opened up her own Academy, offering performing arts subjects such as Drama and Musical Theatre and ran this alongside Albany, as well as opening up other branches in London. These Academies performed in the West End as part of youth showcases and on children's television as well as attaining excellent exam results.

During this time Emma also taught classes for schools and private organisations, and acted as a trainer and mentor to new dance teachers, managing a pool of freelancers for external teaching contracts. She ran her own private classes with a particular focus on teacher training through her Dance Train courses (established in 2009) and private training for wedding dance choreography.

In 2011, having completed her Fellowship and an honours degree as a mature student, Emma chose to focus on teaching in adult education and passed on her Academies to a new generation of teachers. Having taught at the Bishopsgate Institute for a number of years, she took a PGCE in adult education and began teaching for the Mary Ward Centre in central London.

Emma runs a number of mainstream courses at the Mary Ward Centre and also delivers a wide range of classes through their community outreach programme, taking dance out to community centres, day centres and housing associations. She is also a trained tutor observer and does this regularly through the centre's Observation of Teaching and Learning programme.
